I spent November 2018 with my husband traveling throughout Asia for our honeymoon. Together, we met a great group of people from all over the world and got to hear about the different customs and lifestyles of families. One of the biggest lessons I learned was that everyone has a story to tell, and there are people out in our world who want to hear it.

I was born in Toronto, ON and spent my youth living all over the GTA. The majority of my early childhood was spent in Scarborough, ON and luckily for me, my mom's twin and her family pretty much lived right next door. For an only child having your cousins live a couple doors down, in a building complex right by a forest is pretty much the best thing ever. But as life is ever changing and my mom met my step-dad, and we moved, and my littlest sister was born. Simply put my life became different. At the same time my dad was living in Mississauga with my step-mom and little sister.

Fast forward 10 years later and I am graduating university, dating my now-husband Shawn and ready to start my life as an adult. Now, the question is - what does someone do when they're trying to find their place in life? Oh, I know! How about - leave their home and move 3,000 kms away from family and start-up in Calgary, AB!

Moving was probably the scariest thing I've ever done. We made the collective decision and moved up here with another couple, just a little bit of pocket money, a guaranteed job for Shawn, and absolutely no place to live. We lived in a motel by a highway for 2 weeks while booking rental viewings and finding jobs but eventually we did it. By the first week of September, we found a three-bedroom apartment in a 3 story walk-up.

In the end of it all, it all worked out - and I learned the important life lesson that it will ALWAYS work out in the end. Here I am 4 years later; married, own my first home, love my job, have two adorable black cats, and looking forward to raising children in the future (not yet, still not ready to part with the wine).

I'd like to invite you to grab a glass of wine and read along or add a comment so we can become internet friends!
